Position DescriptionThe Texas Tech University Postgraduate Intercollegiate Athletics Internship is intended to provide on-the-job learning experiences for college graduates interested in pursuing a career in various areas of intercollegiate athletics. This program can last 12-36 months.
Future leaders will gain experience in using principles such as:
- Applying a standard of ethics to policy and administrative context
- Evaluating the effectiveness and efficiency of current operations within area of assignment
- Communicating relevant information and ideas
- Managing university resources to achieve organizational goals
Major/Essential Functions- Provide athletic training coverage for practices, home football and basketball games, and at competitions for the TTU Spirit Program.
- Provide limited training room hours for evaluation and treatment of injuries for the TTU Spirit Program.
- Facilitate doctor and physical therapy referrals as needed for the TTU Spirit Program.
- Assist in the administrative process for onboarding TTU Spirit Program members.
- Assist with the prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses, as well as the day-to-day operation of the TTU Men's and Women's Basketball Program.
- Record and maintain medical information complying with HIPAA and FERPA.
- Appropriately utilizes injury management software.
- Acts in accordance with physician supervision and prescribed treatment plans.
- Maintains communication and a cooperative relationship with coaches, administrators, parents, and student-athletes.
- Assist with other sports as needed.
Required QualificationsQualified applicants must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited university and previous experience with collegiate or professional athletics.
Preferred Qualifications- Master's degree.
- NATABOC Certified Athletic Trainer.
- Previous experience as a certified athletic trainer, preferably in a collegiate or professional sports setting.
- Strong ability to work collaboratively with team physicians, sports performance staff, and coaches to create comprehensive health and performance plans.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that could include mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
