Job SummaryDirects the fitness program for University Community. Creates and directs the wellness programming for employees and students including budgetary responsibilities. Oversees the operation of the Personal Training Office including data management for all clients to include different types of programs, services, and events for employees, seniors, and special populations including serving as problem solver for special services program. Teaches group exercise classes.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities- Establishes, administers, and manages annual program budget for the wellness and fitness programs.
- Hires, trains, supervises, evaluates, promotes, and terminates employees under supervision for the personal training, F45 and Group Exercise Program.
- Oversees the operation of the Personal Training Office including data management for all clients.
- Oversees programs, services, and events such as weight management, and incentive and educational programs, for students, faculty and staff, seniors, and special populations. Tracks participation levels and feedback for all special services activities.
- Researches funding resources for grant proposals and writes proposals to purchase equipment and fund programs.
- Serves as professional staff (rotating night and weekend) on duty for overall management and supervision of all staff, programs, and facilities to include opening and closing facilities and handling customer-related situations and emergencies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Exercise Sciences or a related field. Two years of experience managing fitness programs, specifically Personal Training and Group Exercise or equivalent combination of education and experience.
A valid Driver's License is required.
American Red Cross First Aid training and CPR for the Professional Rescuer or equivalent is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)- Knowledge of current fitness and wellness trends.
- Ability to hire, evaluate, and train group exercise instructors.
- Ability to budget and manage a multifaceted program.
- Ability to hire and train personal Trainer.
- Skilled to teach group exercise.
Preferred QualificationsMaster's degree from an accredited college or university in Exercise Sciences or related field; Experience supervising at least one graduate assistant or coordinator in a collegiate recreation setting.
