Job Description:
Wittenberg University is seeking a full-time on-site Athletic Trainer in our Athletics Department. This position will coordinate medical care operations for select assigned varsity sport programs while supporting the comprehensive coverage of all varsity student athletes as a member of the Wittenberg Sports Medicine team. Primary sport assignment with men's and women's hockey, men's and women's wrestling, with other sports assignments to be determined. The position is responsible for coordinating Wittenberg's Sports Medicine team, under the direction of Director of Sports Medicine, to ensure comprehensive coverage of all varsity sports activities as needed. They may occasionally require additional care outside of assigned sports.
Primary Essential functions and responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Responsible for the overall function and strategies of assigned varsity sports. including as necessitated by sport season
- Responsible for coordination and direct communication with university physicians for assigned sports including all rehabilitation plans with return-to-play programs regarding student athlete participation.
- Administering prevention, care, rehabilitation, documentation, and appropriate specialist referral and emergency treatment
- Responsible for role modeling behaviors and leadership for student-Athletes
- Responsible for certification in CPR/AED for training of our Athletic Department
This position has been designated as Campus Security Authority (CSA) in accordance with the federal statuary requirements of the Jeanne Clery Act.
Requirements:
- The position requires minimum education of bachelor's degree. A master's degree preferred.
- 2-4 years related work experience
- Must be NATABOC certified and Licensed in the state of OHIO. Experience as a professional, graduate assistant, intern and/or similar supporting roles may be considered
- Must Possess excellent communication skill (verbal and written), attention to detail with knowledge and commitment to University, League, NCAA, and professional regulations.
Travel is required as well as evening, and weekend work.
A valid driver's license is required; must meet required insurance qualifications found in Wittenberg Motor Pool policies and procedures. If license is from out of state, successful candidate will need to obtain a valid Ohio driver's license within 30 days of hire date.
