Job Description Summary Daily evaluation and care of student-athletes who have been injured or are rehabilitating from injury as well as daily sport coverage for practices and/games.
Saint Leo University is a Division II university located just north of Tampa and is part of the Sunshine State Conference. We are seeking applications for a full time 10-month athletic trainer. Sport oversight responsibilities: TBD. Candidate must be available to work nights and weekends as well as travel with teams. The position is anticipated to begin on 8/3/2026.
Job Description Duties and Tasks
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Work under the guidance and supervision of the Director of Sports Medicine.
- Follow the medical guidelines provided by the Team Physicians.
- Plan, coordinate, organize and manage the daily treatment, rehabilitation and injury evaluations for Saint Leo student-athletes, emphasizing prevention of athletic injuries.
- Maintain accurate and updated documentation of all injuries and general medical incidents using the Sportsware record-keeping system; including initial SOAP notes, daily progress notes, treatment records, rehabilitation programs, and appointment logs.
- Be knowledgeable of and enforce all Saint Leo Sports Medicine/Athletics policies and procedures including but not limited to drug and substance abuse, mental health, concussion management, lightning, heat illness, nutrition and supplements, and catastrophic incidents.
- Be knowledgeable of the medical emergency action plan for all assigned venues and ensure that appropriate emergency equipment is available at each event.
- Maintain a positive report and relationship with the athletic department staff, student-athletes, and college faculty/staff.
Qualifications:
- Masters degree in athletic training preferred from an accredited institution in athletic training
- Eligible for Florida State Licensure
- Certified by Board of Certification (BOC)
- Basic life support (BLS) for healthcare providers
Skills:
