Job DescriptionThe Athletic Events and Facilities Specialist is an entry-level position reporting to the Athletic Events & Facilities Operations Manager and assists with maintaining & preparing facilities to ensure a safe, clean, & professional environment for student-athletes, staff, & spectators. This role includes routine facility maintenance, cleaning, & equipment operation, as well as setup, preparation, & teardown for athletic competitions, tournaments, practices, & special events.
Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED. Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of Facility or Event experience
- Experience operating various cleaning and maintenance equipment, including, but not limited to: high-speed floor buffer, carpet extractor, floor auto scrubber, and field sweeper.
Salary: $15.03 per hour

Responsibilities:
- Maintain and prepare collegiate athletic facilities, including stadiums, arenas, practice fields, courts, weight rooms, locker rooms, and support areas, to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for student-athletes, staff, and fans.
- Provide on-site support during collegiate athletic events, tournaments, and practices to troubleshoot facility issues and ensure a positive experience for athletes, staff, and fans.
- Assist with all aspect of set-up, teardown and post-event cleanup, returning facilities to game-ready and daily-use condition efficiently and safely.
- Provide general laundry support for several different areas.
- Install audio-visual equipment, including PA systems and scoreboards.
- Set up signage, banners, and branding for events, including sponsor and university materials.
- Support crowd management by ensuring pathways, exits, and seating areas are safe and accessible.
- Perform exterior maintenance, including snow removal, debris clearance, and preparation of fields and courts for practices and competitions.
- Replace light bulbs and perform minor repairs to maintain safe and functional athletic environments.
- Perform general upkeep and maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, windows, and furniture to uphold university and athletic department standards.
- Safely operate and maintain equipment such as auto floor scrubbers, carpet extractors, high-pressure washers, high-speed floor buffers, and vacuums.
- Dust, clean, and maintain furnishings and surfaces in offices, locker rooms, meeting spaces, and common areas.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and shampoo floors and carpets as needed, including high-traffic areas used by student-athletes and spectators.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms according to established procedures and restock dispensers to support large-scale events.
- Lift and carry items up to 50 lbs. safely, including athletic equipment, event supplies, and furniture.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the success of the athletic department and events.
