Primary Purpose: Supports the operations of the Office of Recreation and Wellness by coordinating facility operations, supervising student staff, and implementing policies and procedures for the NSU Recreation Center. Exercises independent judgment and discretion to ensure a safe, effective, and engaging recreational environment that promotes student well-being. Required to work evenings and weekends as needed to support operational demands.

Essential Job Functions: 1. Supports and coordinates the day-to-day operations of the recreation center and Shark Pantry, exercising independent judgment to ensure safe, efficient, and consistent service delivery.
2. Contributes to the development and implementation of initiatives that promote student wellness, recreational participation, and a positive campus experience for students, faculty, staff, and community members.
3. Leads and oversees the recruitment, hiring, training, scheduling, and supervision of student staff; provides performance management and corrective action as needed, and administers bi-weekly payroll processes in compliance with university guidelines.
4. Implements, interprets, and enforces policies and standard operating procedures for the recreation center; evaluates and recommends updates based on operational needs, risk considerations, and industry best practices.
5. Guides and supports staff in risk mitigation and emergency response procedures; oversees incident reporting and documentation processes to ensure accuracy and compliance.
6. Coordinates and approves recreation facility space requests; facilitates event logistics in collaboration with internal and external partners to enhance student engagement, wellness, and campus life.
7. Collaborates and consults with campus partners to align facility usage, events, and recreational programming with institutional priorities.
8. Participates in and contributes to departmental and divisional meetings; serves on university committees to support operational planning, risk management, and student engagement initiatives.
9. Oversees and manages recreation equipment inventory, including establishing processes for equipment checkout, tracking, and lifecycle replacement.
10. Coordinates and monitors maintenance and repair of fitness equipment, including preventative servicing schedules to ensure operational readiness.
11. Monitors and evaluates recreation facility operations to ensure compliance with university policies, safety standards, and established procedures.
12. Supports and contributes to membership recruitment and retention strategies for RecPlex services.
13. Supports execution of university events hosted at the RecPlex, ensuring alignment with operational standards.
14. Provides operational support and coordination for fitness centers at regional campuses, ensuring consistency in service delivery.
15. Assists with financial handling processes in accordance with university policies and internal controls.
16. Completes special projects as assigned.
17. Performs other duties as assigned or required.

5. Knowledge of recreation and fitness center emergency procedures.
6. Knowledge regarding customer service principles and practices.

Major (if required: Required Experience: Associate's degree and four (4) to six (6) years of closely related experience in a higher education environment.
Graduate Assistant experience acceptable.
Bachelor's degree and two (2) to four (4) of closely related experience in a higher education environment.

Preferred Qualifications: 1. Experience overseeing recreation center operations and staff.
2. Experience in a university setting.
