Job Description:The Office of Communications & Marketing at Bryn Mawr College invites applications for a Director of Marketing to serve as the institution's inaugural lead marketing strategist and a key advisor to senior leadership. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing integrated marketing strategies that advance institutional priorities, particularly enrollment growth, brand strength, visibility, reputation, and alumnae/i engagement. This role operates with a high degree of autonomy and accountability, overseeing end-to-end campaign strategy, execution, and performance optimization.
Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Strategic Communications and Media Relations, the Director will collaborate closely with communications and marketing colleagues responsible for content generation, creative design, and the College's website. The role is an advisor and producer of content in a variety of media formats for campus units such as admissions, alumnae/i relations, external relations, and academic leadership. The Director will be responsible for developing and aligning marketing efforts with institutional goals through effective use of data, technology, and creative storytelling.

Characteristic Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership - Serve as the institution's primary marketing strategist, shaping short- and long-term strategy across audiences and channels.
- Advise senior leadership and other campus constituents on marketing strategy, positioning, and market dynamics.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and audience insights to inform decision-making.
- Engage collaboratively with editorial content, creative design, and website team leaders to ensure deliverables are aligned with enrollment and engagement strategies.
Campaign Development & Execution - Lead end-to-end development and execution of integrated, multi-channel marketing campaigns from concept through completion to meet project goals.
- Effective marketing campaign management to move target audiences through the undergraduate or graduate enrollment funnel.
- Strong project management discipline to deliver high-quality work on time and within scope.
Content & Channel Strategy - Create compelling, audience-centered content across channels, including digital, social media, web, email, video, and print.
- Strategic storytelling, messaging, and branding.
- Ensure effective use of emerging channels and formats to reach and engage target audiences.
- Write, edit, and proofread compelling marketing copy for various platforms, tailoring messaging to target audiences; write both long- and short-form stories; and ensure excellent command of grammar and style.
Data, Analytics & Performance Optimization - Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and establish measurement frameworks for marketing effectiveness.
- Analyze and optimize performance reporting based on data and insights to improve outcomes.
- Translate analytics into actionable recommendations for leadership and partners.
Resource Management - Manage the marketing budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources aligned with institutional priorities.
- Evaluate and manage external vendors, agencies, and partners.
Stakeholder Collaboration - Serve as a primary point of contact for internal partners, operating in a client-service model to support campus units.
- Foster strong partnerships across departments to ensure alignment and shared success.
- Provide event-related marketing support, including promotional copy and audience-building strategies.
- Stay current on trends in higher education marketing, enrollment marketing, and digital communications.
Inclusion, Mission and Reputation - Ensure inclusive marketing strategies and content.
- Promote inclusive storytelling that authentically represents diverse audiences and experiences.
- Collaborate with the crisis communications team to make strategic decisions related to marketing communications, web presence, and social media during times of heightened sensitivity.
Other duties as assigned.Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in marketing strategy, campaign development, and performance marketing.
- Experience in higher education marketing, with an understanding of journey maps such as the student life cycle from prospect to alumnae/i.
- Success leading data-driven and integrated marketing efforts with measurable results.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Writing and editing experience or experience working closely with an editorial content team.
- Website content management and email marketing experience, with knowledge of best practices.
- Demonstrated graphic design experience or experience working with graphic designers.
- Excellent written/verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
- Experience with email marketing platforms and project management tools.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and consistently deliver high-quality work on time and on budget.
- Successful completion of satisfactory background checks.
- Experience managing marketing budgets and external vendor relationships preferred.
- Familiarity with CRM/marketing automation platforms, AP style, SEO, accessibility standards, and analytics tools preferred.
