DescriptionMidway University seeks an enthusiastic and relationship-driven
Athletic Liaison to enroll prospective undergraduate students, with a primary focus on student-athletes. This new position serves as the admissions office's
liaison to athletic coaches and plays a key role in ensuring that student-athletes and their families receive accurate, timely information about the admissions process, financial aid, and campus life.
Position Overview The
Athletic Liaison proactively engages prospective student-athletes from inquiry through enrollment. Working closely with head coaches and athletic staff, the liaison coordinates communications, provides admissions guidance tailored to eligibility timelines, and helps deliver a seamless experience for incoming athletes.
Key Responsibilities Student-Athlete Recruitment & Relationship Management - Identifies, cultivates, and manages prospective student-athletes through school visits, recruitment fairs, email, phone, text, and campus visits.
- Serves as the admissions liaison to head coaches, keeping them informed of applicant status and deadlines.
- Coordinates with coaches on campus visits, and special recruitment events.
- Provides exceptional, student-centered service to prospective athletes and their families.
Communication & Presentation - Conducts individual consultations and group presentations to prospective student-athletes and their families.
- Clearly explains admissions requirements, timelines, financial aid, housing, and student-athlete resources.
- Tailors communications to resonate with athletes, parents, and high school/club coaches.
Program Knowledge - Maintains thorough knowledge of the University's undergraduate programs, admissions criteria, and scholarships.
- Collaborates with faculty, athletic compliance staff, and student services to stay current on eligibility and support resources.
Marketing & Digital Engagement - Uses CRM and recruitment platforms (e.g., Recruiter, Colleague) to track student-athlete inquiries, applications, and enrollment.
- Assists in developing communications and digital content targeting prospective athletes.
- Plans and hosts on-campus and virtual events specifically for student-athlete recruitment.
Enrollment Conversion & Goal Achievement - Manages a recruitment pipeline of student-athletes from inquiry to enrollment, meeting or exceeding established targets.
- Provides regular reports on recruitment progress to admissions and athletic leadership.
QualificationsQualifications Required - Bachelor's degree.
- One to three years of experience in student recruitment, admissions, athletics, or a related field.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort learning CRM/student information systems.
- Ability to travel, work evenings and weekends for recruitment events.
Preferred - Experience recruiting student-athletes or working in a collegiate athletic environment.
- Familiarity with NAIA rules and timelines.
- Knowledge of higher education admissions best practices.
